the traditional name for relaxation in yoga is "savasana" right? What does this mean?
The name Savasana in direct translation means “corpse pose.” Although it sounds morbid, it is not at all so. It means that when you relax, you take your body, mind, and breath, into such a deep state of peace, that the final pose in both its physical and mental aspects resembles the feel and quietness of a corpse. The body is like a rag-doll on the ground in corpse pose; or a puppet with no-one to life its limbs. In savasana, you are to a greater or lesser degree “fooling” the body into believing it is in a corpsed state, thus experiencing almost complete muscular and neurological cessation of activity.
