garudasana (eagle posture)
This is a beautiful pose when done correctly. Clearly a balancing pose, it demands exceptional composure because the limbs are twisting against each other right throughout the body. In the legs, the standing thigh and calf strength is developed because they are supporting the entire body. The twisted leg however is stretched all over - the outer thigh, knee, calf, ankle, foot and toes are all given a good stretch. In the upper body, the shoulder blades, shoulders, triceps, forearms, wrists, and fingers are all forced to stretch deeply.
After the pose it taken, a slight bend in done from the lower back, which makes the pose sit correctly. The lower back is bent slightly, but the chest it kept up along with the head.
