karna pidasana (a variation on halasana / plough pose)
This plough variation, like all plough poses, is strong for the neck / shoulders, entire spine, and hamstrings (although this variation comes up a little easier on the hamstrings because the knees are bent).
Circulation to the head is improved and the blood-flow from the colon and digestive organs is reversed and sent to the heart. When the blood reaches there, it is purified with the help of the lungs. After the body is steadily brought out of this posture, fresh, cleansed blood is poured back into the lower body.
As with all postures where the head is lowered, fresh blood is also delivered to the scalp, brain, and senses, helping with functions like hair growth, vision, and mental power. The posture is strong on the thyroid, regulating metabolism.
